Technical Requirements

Before jumping into our investment terminology courses, let's make sure your setup is ready. Nothing complicated—just want you to have a smooth learning experience without technical hiccups getting in the way.

System Specifications

  • Operating System Windows 10+, macOS 11+, or Linux
  • Processor Dual-core 2.0 GHz or better
  • Memory (RAM) 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended
  • Storage Space 500 MB available for course materials
  • Display 1280x720 resolution minimum
  • Audio Speakers or headphones for video content

Internet Connection

You'll need a stable connection with at least 5 Mbps download speed. Most video content is optimized for streaming, but you can download materials if your connection tends to be spotty. Mobile data works fine for reading materials—video streaming will eat through your data plan though.

PDF Reader

All our course handouts and reference guides come as PDFs. Adobe Reader works great, but any modern PDF viewer handles them fine. Some students prefer annotation tools like Preview on Mac or Foxit Reader if you like taking digital notes directly on documents.

Video Playback

Our platform handles video streaming directly in your browser—no extra plugins needed. We use HTML5 video technology that works on pretty much everything made in the last five years. If you prefer downloading for offline viewing, standard MP4 format plays anywhere.

Accessibility Features

We've built our platform with accessibility in mind because financial education should be available to everyone, regardless of how they interact with technology.

All video content includes closed captions. Most were written by actual humans (not auto-generated gibberish), so they're accurate and properly timed. Transcripts are available for every video lesson if you prefer reading or need to reference something quickly.

Network and Security

Your connection goes through standard HTTPS encryption—same security your bank uses. We don't require VPN access or special network configurations. If you're accessing from a workplace or school network, occasionally their firewall blocks video streaming. IT departments can whitelist our domain if that happens.

Bandwidth Usage

Video quality adjusts automatically based on your connection speed. High definition uses about 2 GB per hour. Standard definition drops that to around 500 MB per hour. Reading materials and quizzes use minimal data.

Firewall Configuration

Most networks handle our platform fine. Corporate environments sometimes need ports 80 and 443 open for HTTPS traffic. Video streaming works over standard web protocols—nothing exotic that triggers security alerts.

Cookie Requirements

Session cookies keep you logged in and track your progress through courses. We use local storage for some preferences like video playback speed and caption settings. Third-party cookies aren't required—we don't use tracking networks.

Mobile and Tablet Access

Our platform works on phones and tablets through mobile browsers. No app download required, which means one less thing taking up storage space. The interface adapts to smaller screens—we've tested it extensively on devices ranging from large tablets down to compact smartphones.

Portrait mode works better for reading course materials and taking quizzes. Landscape gives you more screen real estate for watching videos. Interactive exercises function the same way on touch screens as they do with a mouse—we've designed them to work with both.

iOS Devices

iPhone 8 or newer, iPad Air 2 or newer. Safari works best, but Chrome and Firefox function properly too.

Android Devices

Android 8.0 or newer. Chrome is your best bet, though Samsung Internet and Firefox handle everything fine.

Offline Capability

Download course materials and videos for offline study. Great for commutes or areas with unreliable connectivity.

Sync Across Devices

Your progress syncs automatically. Start a lesson on your laptop, finish it on your phone during lunch break.
